The Gospel Music world was forever changed when the Cathedral Quartet announced their farewell tour after 39 years. With much prayer and consideration the Cathedral legacy moved forward by forming a new quartet. Legacy Five took the stage in January of 2000 and their music has been received with the same enthusiasm the Cathedrals garnered at the beginning of their reign. In that first year, the group recorded a project, which brought an Album of the Year nomination. The group’s first single release was also nominated for Song of the Year and reached number two on the charts. Legacy Five was off to a very successful start. Over the years, the group continued to prosper, receiving numerous award nominations and releasing several top ten singles. Following the tragic passing of their beloved pianist, Roger Bennett from cancer, Legacy Five entered a new chapter.  The group has been through some major challenges, but they recognize it is the blessing of God that has sustained them, and they pray that God will continue to bless their efforts as they continue to press forward faithfully.

They stepped out in faith by quitting their jobs, selling all they had and relocating across the country from Seattle, Washington to just north of Knoxville, Tennessee.

In just a few short years, God has opened the door for them to sing a message of hope to thousands of people. They have already ministered in 28 states and Canada. They have appeared at nearly every major event in gospel music, including regular appearances on Main Stage at the National Quartet Convention. They signed a major recording contract with Horizon Records and were picked up by the industry leading Harper Agency for booking management. They have recorded six CDs and a Live DVD and have had amazing chart success with every song released to radio. In 2009, they won a Singing News Fan Award for Horizon Group of the Year.
